Teachers’ Orientation Retreat

We thought of getting all our teaching fraternity together for a common discussion and interaction, with a view to understand their difficulties and handicaps in their performance as teachers; and, more so, in appreciating their practical problems while imparting the meaningful instructions to the student community.

The time has come to redefine the appropriate role model of a teacher and to get ourselves engaged in fulfilling and meeting the new challenges.

We believe that the society and the parent community have greater demands on the teachers, extending even beyond the normal and classical expectations, especially in the context of the changing social structure and the emergence of new challenges that the children face in these days. The role of the teachers, in some context, is seen to be inconsistent with the traditional teacher-student relationship. The failure of the parents on their home-fronts vis-à-vis the relationship with the children has created a new dimension to the parents’ perception about the teachers. Every attempt is made to pass on greater responsibilities to the teaching community to take care of the ever-growing demands of the students. On the whole, the time has come to redefine the appropriate role model of a teacher and to get ourselves engaged in fulfilling and meeting the new challenges.

The Management, therefore, thought of organizing an interactive Seminar for an in-depth and intense discussion to identify and crystallize the framework of instruction modalities and behavioural pattern so as to make our teaching and teachers’ roles more effective and responsive. The seminar would have different sessions in which individual topics would be identified and interacted with. We would also have the advantage of discussing with some of the eminent personalities who have already given serious thoughts to this process.
